Immunizations Required to Start 7th Grade

Hello parents and guardians of rising seventh grade students,

I hope you are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel for this very unusual school year. As we prepare for the 2021-2022 school year, this is to let you know that all students entering the seventh grade will be required to have the tetanus - diphtheria - acellular pertussis (TDaP) and the meningococcal vaccines. The meningococcal vaccine was added and will become law on July 1, 2021. Documentation of these from your child's medical provider must be turned in by August 31, 2021 to Tarrant Middle School Clinic or Main Office. These must be on file for your student to receive their seventh grade schedule to start the first day.

Meningococcal disease is a serious illness caused by the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis (also known as “meningococcus”). A small proportion of infected people can develop a serious form of illness, such as meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain and spinal cord) or a bloodstream infection (septicemia).

Documentation may be turned in to the Clinic until the end of the current school year or to the Main Office during their summer hours, Monday -Thursday, 7:45 AM - 4:45 PM.

If you have any question, please contact me at (757) 825-4527 until the end of this school year and I will be checking my email periodically through the summer. My email address is .

Warm regards,
